The first step in the sequence always sends with template A

Symptom

When adding prospects to a sequence with the first step using A/B, the prospects always get template A.

Resolution

If the first step is a manual email, edit the email step after the prospects are added to the sequence. If the first step is an auto-email set to go out right away, try adding an interval to it so that you can edit the email before it goes out.

Cause

The cause of this issue is editing the steps before completing the process of adding the prospects, demonstrated below. When editing steps, the first template is automatically selected.
