Microsoft Dynamics Advanced Task Mapping: Generic Tasks

Objective

The purpose of this article is to provide direction to Outreach Admins in configuring the Generic Task in the Outreach platform for Microsoft Dynamics.

Before you Begin

Advanced Task Mapping for Generic Tasks creates a generic task on the Lead or Contact record in Microsoft Dynamics. Based on the plugin settings, when the task is marked complete in Outreach the corresponding task is complete in Dynamics.

Procedure

MS Dynamics Settings

Enable the following options in mapping the MS Dynamics Task <> Outreach Task object, including conditions under Outbound Create:

Polling
Pushing
Inbound Update
Outbound Create
Outbound Update

Enabling the applicable options in the MS Dynamics plugin provides users with the ability to map the following fields:

Outreach Task Field	Dynamics Task Field	Description
State	Activity Status	The status of the task.
Due At	Due Date	When the task needs to be completed by.
Completer ID	Modified By (systemuser)	The user who completed the task.
Task Priority	Priority	The priority of the task.
Owner	Owning User (systemuser)	Record owner.
Note	Description	Notes of the task.
Custom Template...	Subject	Subject of the task.
Prospect	Regarding (lead)	The Prospect associated with the task.

Note: Outreach adds the necessary advanced field options during setup, removing the necessity of altering advanced field options for any particular field. Contact Outreach Support prior to adjusting advanced field options to confirm planned changes do not negatively affect the Dynamics synchronization.

Note: Toggle-off the Lead and Contact Sync Settings for messages within the Messages and Events settings to prevent duplicate task logging in MS Dynamics.
