About tabs customization

Whenever an admin defines a lookup field on a custom object, a tab displaying the related list of records is automatically added to the parent record's detail page.

Admins can define the tab’s name, control the visibility of the tab and define which records from related objects appear on a record's detail page by configuring advanced settings on lookup fields.

Procedure

To customize the tab featuring the list of related custom object records, navigate to the field settings of a Lookup field representing the relationship between the two objects.

At the bottom of the dialogue, expand the ‘Advanced settings’.

  • Display as a tab in record detail: Controls whether to show the Related list tab on a parent record.
  • Tab name: Specify the tab name.
  • Tab records: Allows admins to select which related object records will appear in the tab. This setting enables the display of records from objects connected through many-to-many relationships, providing flexibility in presenting associated data

Example Setup

Using the Advanced Settings on a Prospect lookup field within the Campaign Member object, an admin can configure a tab on the Prospect detail page to display associated Campaigns. This setup provides Outreach users with an organized view of all Campaigns related to a particular Prospect, streamlining access to key data.

Prerequisites

  • Campaign and Campaign Member objects are already defined in Outreach.
  • Campaign Member contains lookup fields to Prospect and Campaign objects

Steps to display related object records

  1. Go to Administration > Records > Custom Objects.
  2. Select your Campaign Member object and edit the Prospect lookup field.
  3. In the Advanced Settings section, enable Show records from lookup-related object.
  4. Select the related object (e.g., Campaign) whose records you want to display in the associated tab.
  5. (Optional) Rename the tab by entering a name in the Tab Name field.

This configuration will display all relevant Campaigns directly on the Prospect’s detail page, providing a streamlined and organized view for Outreach users.
